What type of gemstone...?

So, I've been given a bunch of loose gemstones and I'd like to figure out what they are. I have a book listing the different types of gemstones (their color, origins, and legends attached to them), but it hasn't helped me much. I was wondering if anyone knew of a website or something that could help me categorize these stones?
